Insurance Services Group of the Southeast utilizes an industry-standard audit software suite that very ably handles their firm’s transactional operations.  This line of business software lacked detailed business intelligence functionality; furthermore, ISG were struggling with an underperforming initial attempt to develop these BI features.  ISG management challenged Mercury to deliver high-level business intelligence for practice management and their key clients.

Mercury designed and implemented an Azure-centered solution for operational data consolidation utilizing Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory.  This cloud data solution efficiently and effectively integrates business platform data into an online data warehouse.  The MercuryWorks team implemented a suite of Power BI reports and associated Power Automate flows atop this business data layer to present digestible intel to ISG managers and key clients.

ISG‘s modernized business intelligence reporting and process automation has streamlined ISG’s business processes while improving their customer’s overall user experience.  The actualized time savings over the former manual practices have brought significant reductions in operational costs and customer satisfaction improvements.

Actionable Intel

ISG‘s cloud-based BI suite enables executive management to spend much more time working on the business as compared to the time they formerly spent in the business.  Power BI reports feed fresh digested data to business managers and enable them to make better business decisions.  ISG management now has the ability to be aware of, identify and locate operational aberrations – and have the chance to exploit opportunities more quickly than before.

Data Integration

Data extraction, transaction and loading (ETL) is a classic enterprise IT challenge and key precursor to any system integration or business reporting.  Between reducing, combining and making data actionable, data integration is the formative key to make business intelligence possible.  Even with SQL Server as your enterprise data store, Azure Data Factory played a key ETL role in using a data warehouse for BI as compared to transactional database.

Cloud with ladder

All Cloud

Not one digital “stitch” of ISG’s solution resides on “on premises” infrastructure – from their business software to business data storage to BI reporting and operation, all infrastructure resides in the cloud.  That also means that any ISG staff member or client can consume business intelligence from any location in the world.  Microsoft’s Cloud provides the broad and deep power across Azure, Power Platform and Microsoft 365 to help MercuryWorks Make It Work for ISG.

Operational Monitoring

Using a collection of Azure monitoring and alerting services and features, we are able to monitor the integrity of data integration, process automation and BI report freshness.  Azure Monitor, built-in Azure Data Factory alerting and Power Platform health monitors are specific tools MercuryWorks utilized during implementation to provide the instrumentation required to monitor and ensure the digital health of ISG’s solution.

"As a business owner, finding the right technology partner is crucial for success. MercuryWorks quickly identified functional gaps and immediately started working against a clear and detailed plan. Their expertise with the latest technology is impressive and they suggested several improvements that resulted in an efficient and effective solution."

Behind The Curtain

Core Technology

Power automate software

Power Platform

Provides logic, process flow and “behind the scenes” operations for cloud-based business solutions. Largely a no-/low-code solution, Power Automate puts the power of connected applications into knowledge workers’ hands.

SQL Server

Provides a robust data storehouse and query platform to store all enterprise data and marshal data for integration.  In-cloud SQL Server was used to provide instant scalability and rapid querying.

Microsoft azure

Microsoft Azure

Provides database storage, web app, authentication and web services. Azure provides an ideal solution for back end mobile applications with a multi-data center Platform as a Service (PaaS) cloud solution.
